Thursdays, The Death of Must See TV, and What We Find To Do
Now playing: Nickel Creek - The Lighthouse's Tale
I still find it interesting that there’s nothing really to watch on television Thursday nights anymore. I think that all of my life until last season there was Must See TV of some sort on NBC Thursdays, and after Friends, nothing. Well, not really nothing, but it seems that way. Joey is not the Joey that lived with Chandler or even Rachel and Emma. It’s just a bad show. Of all the characters from Friends, Joey was the least interesting one, and couldn’t/ can’t carry a show on his own. Will and Grace is ending a few seasons too late. ER – I haven’t really watched much since Dr. Greene died, and now even Carter is gone.
Oh well, it leaves more time for writing, blogging, reminding Bart that Derek and Stephanie’s wedding is in March and not April for the third time. He just announced it like it was big news, and we had discussed this last week, and he received the same email stating the fact that I did a month ago. I wonder how old one must be to be senile? LOL.
Due to the fact that neither Bart nor I can stand to not watch television while eating dinner at home, we popped in a Gilmore Girls DVD again. Tonight’s classic episode was “The Reigning Lorelai.” We both agree that it’s one of the best. I love the whole thing where Lorelai the firsts maiden name was Gilmore – as well as her married. It seems Richard’s parents were second cousins, thoroughly grossing out Lorelai and Rory. Also fun was Emily’s reaction to Gran’s letter written to Richard the day before their wedding, pleading him to leave Richard at the altar. Drunk Emily is always fun.
Now playing: Faith Hill - Where You Lead
I’m trying to decide which books I want to take on our fishing trip next week because I doubt I do much fishing. There will of course be at least one volume of L. M. Montgomery. I just have to decide which. I’m also thinking of tackling something broader. I could go with “War and Peace” or possibly the lesser known Charlotte Bronte, “Shirley.” There’s also the possibility of some Henry James, George Elliot, or I could go with Poe for Halloween. I might also have to take either “London” or “On Secret Service” for fun. Though I’ve read “London” so many times I should know it word for word.
Now playing: Junkie XL - A Little Less Conv
I know that I probably need to stock up on pens and paper before we go so I can maybe spend some time on “Comfort and Joy,” possibly “Nan of the Island,” and maybe even “Of Blythes, Fords, and Merediths.”
Now playing: Matchbox Twenty - All I Need
We’re going to meet up with the Eckarts and Stephanie Woolf tomorrow night for dinner. That’ll be fun. It’ll probably be the last time we get together before the big moves for Stephanie and we two Gilbreaths. It’s funny how both couples, Derek, Stephanie, Bart and I, are headed to NW Arkansas just as we all got used to living in Little Rock.
Now playing: Nickelback - Photograph
It’s funny how the music is going so much faster than my typing. I guess I should do something else for a while. I’ve been on the computer very little in some ways today, but I’ve done a lot of work to this blog and the fanfiction one. I’m still learning how to do things, but I think the L. M. Montgomery Fanfiction Blog looks much better. It also seems that a few people have taken a liking to the guestbooks that I’ve added to both sites.
Last thought, I’m glad I picked up a little allergy medication this evening on the way home. Bart has seen where Blue Suede Shoes Antique Mall is having an Oktoberfest sale. We’ve sort of become antique junkies though I’ve been around it all my life. I wish that I had paid more attention to my Mom and all of the ladies at Sue’s Antiques as a child in Heavener. I still don’t know how as a child I managed to walk all around those antiques all the time and never break any. I guess that’s because I was taught not to mess with things. Children don’t know how to do that now.
Now playing: The Calling - Adrienne
I can’t believe this song came up on win amp. I like it, but I don’t like the light it casts on “Adrienne.” I makes us all seem cold and @#$chy. Oh well, here’s a wonderful sone to say good night to.
Now playing: Chris de Burgh - Lady in Red
